Veterans Cross Quilt Part 4 Making the Borders

Veterans Cross Quilt Part 4 Making the Borders

Hello Dear Friends and Readers and a warm welcome to today’s post. Today I will share Part 4 of the Veterans Cross Quilt. We will be adding the borders. I was quite pleased at the result as I like the way that the borders intersect with the quilt design. You will see what I mean as we go along.

These are the previous posts about this Veteran’s Cross Quilt top. Veterans Cross Quilt Block

Using the 24 of white solid 2” squares, sew a red solid 2” square to each side of the white squares to make 24 units.

Sew a burgundy with white print square to each side of a red solid square. Make 20 of these units.

Begining with a solid navy 2” square, attach a white and red unit, followed by a navy square, then sew a burgandy and red unit to the end of that, then a navy square. Continue alternating these units with a navy square in between until you have used 6 of the white/red units and 5 of the burgandy/red units. Finish with a navy square.

Make four of these border strips the same way. I made these on my vintage Singer 201K treadle. Singer 201K Treadle C1947
