What’s Cooking?…Play Dough

Making Play Dough at home is fun, quick, easy and very economical. If your little one wants to help you in the kitchen, make some Play Dough so that they can work with you, then you can get your cooking done.

This recipe is requested by Ambily and Shaun.

This is how I do it.

Ingredients
2 cups of plain flour
1 cup of salt
5 teaspoon of cream of tartar
30 mls of oil
2 cups of water
A few drops of food colouring of your
choice

Method

Put the dry ingredients in a medium saucepan.  Mix together.  Make a well in the centre.  Add the liquids.  Put pan on the stove and stir briskly and continuously.

As the mixture begins to cook it will thicken and become quite stiff.

Keep stirring until the mixture begins to leave the sides of the pan.

Turn out onto a hard surface and knead a little.  Allow to cool.  Ready to use:)

If you like, you can divide the mixture in half and add a few more drops of colour to one half and knead in.

Store in a little bucket or airtight container when not in use.

Add some cooking utensils if desired like little rolling-pin and plastic cutters.  Have fun!
