Sashing the blocks

From the white 2 1/2″ strips, sub cut 24 x 9 1/2″ strips.

Sew the 16 four patch blocks into four rows of four using 12 of the 9 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ white strips.  Set a strip between each block.

Then sew a row of four of the 9 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ white strips longitudinally together with a  pale pink and white spot 2 1/2″ square between each.  Make three of these sashing strip sets.

1st Border

Double check measure through the centre of the quilt.  See the 2 1/2″ WOF strips of white homespun to match the with if the outside border.  Aproximately 42 1/2″.  Make four.  Sew on a strip the each opposite side of the centre block.  Attach a 2 1/2″ pale pink and white spot square to each end of the drama über two strips for the cornerstones. Attach these two strips the the other two opposite sides. Pin well before stitching to ensure even placement.

2nd Border

Each border strip contains 7 of the 5″ squares set on the diagonal.  Attach a setting triangle to each side of five of the 5″ squares.  The two end squares will only require 1 of the setting triangles.

Once all the setting triangles are attached add the four end triangles, two at each end.  Trim any dog ears.

Attach two of the completed borders to two opposite sides of the quilt.  Start at the centre.  Make sure that the middle square lines up with the centre of the quilt.  Pin well for even placement before sewing.
Add the four 7 1/2″ squares of focus fabric to the ends of the remainder 2 border strips.
Attach these two strips to the other two sides of the quilt as previously described.

3rd Border

Measure through the centre of the quilt once more.  Join the remaining 2 1/2″ white homespun strips end to end.  Use them to make the third border, attaching the measured length to each side.  Add the last 4 pale pink and white spot 2 1/2″ cornerstone squares, to the last two border strips and attach to the last two sides of the quilt.

  1. Hi..recent subscriber..Question: how do I make the Country Roses Four Patch Quilt bigger(I need it for a full bed? Thank you. Love this pattern. Granddaughter picked it for her Disney Princess quilt but she has a full sized bed and a 65.5 square is not going to work. ..

    1. Hi Nancy,
Welcome. If you increase the number of four patches in the centre blocks, from 16 to 25, in a configuration of 5 x 5 four patches, this will give you a quilt size of 75” x 75” square. When constructing the border, add two extra 5” x 5” squares on point to each side. Please check measure before attaching the borders. I think it will turn out beautifully! 🌸

      1. Is there a simple pdf for this pattern or do I need to copy and paste the whole instruction set? Thanks!

  2. Is there a way we can print this page so we can work on it? I seem to have the bad luck of losing patterns I want to work on at later dates.

  3. Thank you for sharing. You are so generous. I think I have a few charm packs of Bliss that I have had for a couple of years, I am not into brights much but I just loved the freshness of that range, so this may be a way to use them up. 🙂
