Quilty Luggage Identifier and Pattern.
As you probably know by now I love to make the best use of my quilting cuts and scraps and this is a great little Quilty project.
I don’t know about anyone else but if I am travelling I try to take minimal luggage with me and maybe even just carry on. But, if I have to take a big suitcase I just find it so tedious watching all those cases come around on the carousel. So many of the bags look similar and when one is a bit tired and away from home anything that makes life a bit easier is a help. So I was thinking today, I want to know my bag straight off without question, so what could be nicer than a little quilt identifier hanging from my bag. A piece of fabric that I love and will make my bag unique.
So here it is.
Quilty Luggage Identifier and Pattern
Ingredients
1 x 5″ charm square
1 x 2 1/2′ x 10″ piece of fabric
1 x 4″ x 2″ piece of batting
Method
Take the 10″ x 2 1/2″ Strip of fabric and fold sides towards the centre, then fold the strip in half so that all the long edges are enclosed. Sew along both long sides. Fold the strip in half.
Take the charm square and fold in half right sides together. Insert the raw edges of the folded strip in between the folded charm square and centring at the short edge of the top of the folded square. Sew a 1/4″ seam carefully along the short side securing the strip inside the centre. Turn at the corner and sew down the long side leaving the bottom open. Clip the corners. Pull on the strip and turn to the right side. Use a chop stick to push the points and seams to make it flat. Inset the piece of batting. Fold the bottom seam inwards neatly and sew across. Sew an X across both diagonals of the little quilt.
Add to your Quilty Luggage Identifier to your luggage handle by putting the loop through the handle then pulling the little quilt through the loop and pull down to secure.
