Christmas Tree Hot Pad
Hello Dear Friends and Readers and a warm welcome to today’s post, Thank you for visiting susies-scraps.com.
Christmas is almost upon us, and I can’t believe how quickly the year has flown again. I would like to wish you all a very happy and peaceful holiday period. I am looking forward to sharing more quilty adventures in the new year. This is a quick post relating to the Christmas Pine Tree Half Log Cabin Block
I’m sharing a Christmas inspiration here of using that block for a simple pot holder. Although you could use any tree block of your choice.
Hot pad size 9″ x 9′.
Requirements for the Christmas Tree Hot Pad
One of the Christmas Tree Half Log Cabin Block 9″ x 9″
Christmas Pine Tree Half Log Cabin Block
One piece of batting approximately 9 ½” x 9 ½” ( use two if your batting is very thin)
One square of backing fabric at least 9 ½” x 9 ½”
One 2 ½” red width of fabric strip for the binding
Assorted red and white buttons
Assorted embroidery threads (optional)
Making the Christmas Tree Hot Pad
Lay the backing fabric right side down, then put the batting square/s on top followed by the Christmas Pine Tree Half Log Cabin Block keeping all layers as smooth and square as possible. Pin the layers.
Quilt as desired. I did some very simple machine quilting just to outline the tree.
Then sew some buttons to the tree to represent baubles. I embroidered some simple chain stitch swags onto the tree as well.
Sew the binding strip to the front side of the block.
Turn it to the back and hand stitch in place.
Christmas Wishes to all and best of health in 2025.
