Baby Steps Quilt
Dear Friends and Readers. If you love traditional Courthouse Steps quilts, then you might well enjoy these quick pieced blocks! A true scrap quilt. This could make a lovely Easter project!
A new baby is coming soon. I don’t know if it will be a boy or a girl? I figured with this design, and the red being the dominant primary colour for the centres and the binding that it will be a gender neutral project It will be appropriate. This quilt has been entirely constructed on treadle machines.

Baby Steps Quilt Block & Tutorial
To make the Baby Steps Quilt
Make 12 of the Baby Steps blocks.
Sew them together in a 3 x 4 configuration.
Position all the blocks in the same orientation. I think this gives the best effect. Here I am piecing it on a Singer 201K treadle.
Layer your backing, batting ( I used cotton) and quilt top. Prepare for quilting.
Finished quilt size approximately 33 1/2” x 44 1/2”.
I just love the look of this quilt! I think the design has a lot of impact.
I have free motion quilted the light areas of the quilt, on one on my treadles, a Singer 31K20.

I call this quilting Puffed Hearts Free Motion Quilting.
In this area I have Free Motion Quilted Triple Egg Flowers. You can access the original Egg Flowers here.
Free Motion Egg Flower Quilting
The binding will be in Red to match the centre squares.
I did did not add a border as this is a perfect size for a baby quilt.
