Arkansas Cross Roads Quilt
Hello Dear Friends and Readers, and welcome to todays post. This is a simple baby or lap quilt which can be readily made from a few scraps and some background fabric.I was really quite captivated by this pattern. I think one of the reasons is that anytime you can present a block which appears to be on point but doesn’t actually have to be constructed that way is a bonus, don’t you think….
Block size 16 1/2“ x 16 1/2“
Finished quilt size 32 1/2“ 48 1/2“
Arkansas Cross Road Quilt
Arkansas Cross Road is a fantastic scrap quilt.
To make the Arkansas Cross Roads Quilt, choose neutrals or a plain background fabric. Get out your scraps. The more variation the better. These should be all mediums and darks.
The pattern is very adaptable for any colour way or size, just stop when you get to the size that you want. This one is made from 2 1/2″ squares (also referred to as mini charms) made into four patches and 4 1/2″ background blocks with 2 snowballed corners. I free motion quilted this baby girl quilt on a domestic sewing machine. Choosing a binding in a medium or dark colour will help to frame the quilt.

TIP TO VARY THE QUILT SIZE
Make 6 blocks for a baby quilt
To make quilts of other sizes;
Lap size 9 blocks will make a quilt 48 ½“ x 48 ½“
Single Bed size 12 blocks will make a quilt 48 ½“ x 72 ½“
Double Bed size 16 blocks will make a quilt 72 ½“ x 72 ½“
Queen size 20 blocks will make a quilt 72 ½“ x 88 ½“ or 25 blocks will be 88 ½“ x 88 ½“
King Size 30 blocks will make a quilt 88 ½“ x 104 ½“
I really enjoyed free motion quilting this quilt which i did on a Singer 201K C1948. I quilted it with daisies. You can see in the link here how to do that.
This quilt was made for a beautiful baby girl.
So there we are. A fun scrappy. Great for using up those 2 ½“ squares.
